On tap at C'est What for the Fall Festival.
Poured a dark brown/mahogany, with an offwhite head. Moderate retention, unfiltered body. Creamy head retains well, with a great density to it. Nose has some dark fruits, darker breads, toffee and caramel maltiness. A light toastiness/smoke to this as well. Standard stuff for what I've been accustomed to for the style, pretty bang on nonetheless. Taste has more dark fruits, some light grapey and earthy notes as well. Thinner malt notes than the nose suggested, yet still maintains a bit of that lightly toasty/smokey character. Medium full feel, but the carbonation came across way too harshly initially. After repeatedly swirling this around, I got it to a more manageable and drinkable level. Little to no alcohol here, which is good considering I expected a bit more booze from something "eis"-ed (if it was...). Touch of lingering bitterness, but mostly sweet in the finish. A nice beer from Amsterdam, seasonal bottles of this could do well.
