On tap at Volo, served in a tulip. A smoked witbier.
Pours a clear golden yellow, with a white cap that fades to a thick collar. Nose has some banana, spicing (clove?) that's faint, wheat and just a touch of smoke. Orange peel and general citrus zest. Standard wit, with a bit of smoke. Taste has lots of wheat, a touch of banana, but a ton of smoked/charred wood notes, which linger for quite some time afterwards. A bit of the citrus zest again. Fairly light mouthfeel, which aids drinkability substantially. Medium light carbonation. Quite a nice offering, although I'll admit I've never had a smoked wheat beer before. I'd call this one a success, certainly a niche style which needs to be executed more often by more brewers.
