On tap at the Amsterdam Tap Takeover at Volo. Into a wine glass. An imperial smoked porter with wine skins.

Black with a light tan head, leaving behind a ring of retention and light lacing. Nose is chocolate and smoked malt, light fruity grape and red wine character (albeit subtle). Taste has some nice smokey and toasty notes, chocolate, light sweetness balances and keeps the smoke in check. Very subtle dark fruit notes, roast mid-palate and mild smoke carries on well into the finish. Great balance, no alcohol. Medium body and a slightly lower medium carbonation. A fantastic beer that needs to be done again.

On-tap during Amsterdam's Volo takeover.

Beer is black with a slight tan head.

Smell is powerful. The grape skins are big, lots of berry and grape. The smoked malt is a really nice complement, mixing well with the berry scents. Then there is a big chocolate scent. Very nice!

Smoked malt is upfront in the taste, along with dark chocolate and wood. Berries and grape flavours are just below. A really nice mix of flavours and the smoke is at a great level.

Full bodied, strongly carbonated, a bit oily.

Overall, very good. The three elements (smoked beer, porter and grape skins) all go well together with none dominating. My favourite beer of the event.

On tap at bar hop. This beer was really inspiring an eye opening. Smoky campfire and bacon aromas with full bodied Syrah. The palate has even more wine influence with a roasty malty poter blending with a licious red fruit spice. The fusion is almost seem less, lending it a smooth but very robust body. Finish is nice and crisp with more coffee porter character. This has to be one of the most unique and flavourful porters I've had on some time. I also am a fan of Syrah wine so fair warning, but I would say get this if you see it!
