Heard great things about this beer and it did not disappoint. Dark amber, darker than any other O-fests I've seen this year, vanishing head, nutty aroma. Lots of sweet chewy malts, dark caramel, nut flavors, light spiciness from hops. This is one bold Oktoberfest! Lots of nut flavor, which is surprising but nice, approaching brown ale territory, but the sweet candy malts keep it firmly in Marzen territory. Flowery hops and trademark H&N gumminess are another neat twist. This is another great beer from Hammer & Nail and I will miss them very much.

Clear. The color is very dark, bordering on russet brown, with crimson highlights. A creamy, light tan head dissipates quickly but leaves a good collar. The aroma offers a lightly nutty, caramel malt aroma. The body is medium with a moderate carbonation and a very creamy mouthfeel. The flavor is cleanly malty: softly sweet, lightly toasty and nutty; with an underlying bitterness and a light, spicy hop flavor. The finish is semi-dry but short lived with just a lightly lingering maltiness. A really interesting and exceptional brew. I don't know that I'd categorize it as an Oktoberfest, but when it's this good you can call it whatever the hell you want! Worth seeking out.

Pours a great looking depp amber color with a big head that sinks fairly quickly. Light toasty malt aromas with some light hoppiness in the background. Vague toasty maltiness that has some nice crispness to it but there is also a slightly off flavor and some artificial tasting sweetness in this brew, both of which detract from it. Light hops balance out this brew which is fairly bland for the most part. Fairly light bodied, the slight stickiness that the sweetness of this brew adds is unwelcome and brings the mouthfeel and drinkability down. Thanks to pbrian for the sample.

This is the best US made Oktoberfest I have had so far this season--much superior to Sam Adams. Rivals some German as well--actually better than this Season's Spaten. This brew is evdence that the Fall is the best season for beer. Prost!!

Might be my favorite o'fest.Clear reddish-brown color with a very small head. Toasted malt and dark caramel flavor help this brew distinguish itself. Med. to full body. Great to have with a nice fall diner. I love cooking some kielbasa and just about anything else with this o'fest. Grab this one while you can.

This beer is a clear deep scarlet red. A slight beige head dwindles to a rimming rather quickly. Toasted and slightly roasted malt blend on the nose. The beer is almost full bodied and clean. Generous malt contributions on the palate. Toasted malt. Slight bread tones. Even a little bit of a hop bite. All in all, pretty decent Oktoberfest.
Thanks go out to Pbrian for the sample.
