malty and woody, this is a misc. type of beer classified as an amber. It is not a Belgian style nor an American hopped up red, but it's closer to the former. Medium or lighter mouthfeel, lots of initial fiz in head. So-so.Thanks Boutip for hitchhiker.

Pourred a deep amber brew with a huge head with good retention. Carbonation is huge. This seems to be a consistent thing with Schoune. When there beers are well bottled, which is half of the time, the carbonation is great. Over all, this beer is a lighter version of the reb'ale beer from the same brewery (less alcohol, less spice, less body). Does mean it is a bad beer, just a lighter beer.

Bought at Marché du Boisé (boul. des Forges, T-R), 6/11/03, stored cool dark, 2600 miles in my trunk. Boy, did I have high hopes after that bottle of La Belge. Oh well.
The head is small, cream-colored and dense. The beer is a hazy orange/amber, with slow carbonation. The nose is fruity, Belgian-spicey and tangy. Nice. The front is fruity, but a touch sourish. That sour note persists straight through to the alcohol finish. This isn't a bad beer, but it's not great, either.
