This one is from Caudalie in my CANBIF 3013 box. Canadian sours are so rare, it's always a pleasure to try one.

Appearance. Pours a hazy amber-brown with a thin white head.

Smell. Nice wood and sweet funk, cherries with a bit of berries and caramel. Smells quite sour with a little white vinegar.

Taste. Funky wood, cherry and some berries, caramel, some leather. Light sweetness and the right amount of sourness for the style. There's a slight herbal quality as well but it's not off-putting.

Mouthfeel. Medium body, maybe a little lighter. Medium carbonation.

Overall. A very nice Flanders style beer. Love that it's from Canada as it tastes pretty authentic.

Bottle: Poured a light reddish color ale with a generous head with good retention and light lacing. Aroma consists of light funky notes with some tart undertones. Taste is not the most complex but tart notes are well balanced with notes of light funk originating from the yeast. Body is about average with good carbonation. There is nothing here to write home about but interesting beer nonetheless.

Bottle from Broue HAHA. From notes.

A - Poured a murky copper colour with a film of head on top. No visible carbonation comes through and there is no lace or head retention.

S - Smells sour, some crab apples, lighter sour grapes and tart candy.

T - Quite tart up front with sour fruits, grain, sour cherry, and dark fruit. A nice tart flavour for sure.

M - A puckering feel with mild carbonation and a medium body.

O/D - Seems close to being proper but lacking a bit in body. Some oaky notes or stronger malt presence would be nice, yet this one isn't the worst I've had from Schoune.
