Muddy light to medium brown body. Surprisingly low head for a belgian farmhouse brewery. Interesting spicy/yeasty nose proposes gingerbread and cinnamon like flavors to match with the foamy and spongy malt reminiscent of chocolate, toffee and molasses. Dry yeast reminds of earthy cobwebs on the tongue. Moderate fruitiness (figs, raisin). Long farmy finish, grassy, honeyish. Rather appealing, but not as decadent as I thought vervifontaine would be. Still looking for the blonde anyway. Thanks to JPDipso and ringo.

Medium dark brown color, medium white foamy head. Aroma is tart, vineous and sweet. Malty with a touch of vineous flavor, fairly hoppy. Lots of flavor. Taste grows on you, like a Belgian red. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is crisp and dry. Aftertaste is slightly bitter

The beer pours a slightly swarthy golden amber color, the head monumental in size, the texture frothy and the resultant lace thick and clinging sheets to cover the glass. The aroma of ripe plums, malt, tart and a light touch of yeast also present. Start is sweet and sour, the top moderate in mouth feel, with a biting acidity and the hops pertinent in their spicy presence, the aftertaste somewhat alcohol bitter and a real “Belly Warmer”.

Pours a hazy dark tan/peach color with a huge rocky head that doesn't really fade. The smell is alcohol, sweet candy sugar and some fruit (oranges, bananas, peaches?). The taste is sweet sugars and fruit followed by a nice hop spiciness that tingles on the tongue. As the spiciness fades you are left with a nice subtle malty sweetness on your tongue that has a nice clean while the tongue still tingles. This beer is about as creamy and smooth as I could possibly imagine a brew to be and that makes for a great drinkability. Wow, this was one outstanding brew. This had a best before date of May 99 but for the $.50 they were asking for it I couldn't pass it up. My guess is that the age just helped to make it smoother and more mellow. I am going to see if they have any of this left at the store when I go back today.
