Woww what a beer. Great head and foreverlasting bright white head. Some big parts flowting in it but a nice blond colour. Great nose, bayanus probably there in combination with hops and only litle malt. Light taste( for 8%) but its a harmonic play between malts hops and (bayanus)yeast. Litle (too) sweet but nice hoppy aftertaste. Good beer most certaily worth a try if you like Orval!

750mL bought at New Beer distributors in Manhattan labeled Vervifontaine Blonde only. (I’ve also seen bottles at Oliver’s warehouse in Albany and I can’t recommend enough to go through a few hundred miles to get a hold on this nectar). Enormous fluffy, frothy, rocky and sticky white head mounts atop the superb murky golden body. Bottle-conditioning lets a good share of yeast sediments at the bottom of the glass. Extreme farmy^2 aroma where the haystack, horse sweat and the likes don’t fail to seduce any gueuzes and/or saison fans. Guess what, I love both styles. Charming floral and citrusy fruitiness (lemon, grapefruit) explodes from the hops (I remember reading hallertauer somewhere, which seems to makes sense). The tastiest pilsner malt reminds of honey at times, of grass at others. No alcohol noticeable ever. Gentle evolutive hoppy finish is long and decadent, displaying yeast-hop-sweetness belgian balance at its pinnacle. Delicate honeysuckle and coriander notes. Attracting yeast profile (funky old books and spider webs reminiscent) complements a superbly refreshing and well-contained tartness while managing to remain as clean as any other beer. Body is fantôme-ish, fluffy, airy, bubbly and so fitting. This is what artisanal brewing is all about. A unique experimental beer which knocks me by the feelings and annihilates any of the ridiculously high expectations I had toward it. Lovely from any angle you look at it. I believe this to be my favorite beer on earth.

The beer disgorges from the 330ml stubby brown bottle a murky yellow-orange color with a substantial creamy white head as it dissipates the residual lace forms a thin slip to obscure the glass. Nose is sweet malt with a bit of musk, crisp and clean, the start is sweet with a decent malt presence, and the top is light to medium in feel to the palate. Finish is authoritarian in acidity; the hops forthright in their spiciness and the aftertaste desert dry with some alcohol bitterness, overall a decent “Blond”!

Light gold color. Medium head. Aroma is sweet and slightly fruity. A medium bodied ale. Yeasty, slightly sweet and somewhat fruity. A touch of alcohol bite. Lemon and coriander. Very drinkable. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.

This finishes off the last bottle in a large belgium bottle case that I did last year. It is unfortunate that I joins BA at this late venture with so many beers tried prior. But I digress...

This was not what I expected, but it was decent none-the-less. Beer came in a green magnum bottle with a cap, not a cork. It poured with an off white head and was a hazy golden color.

I was expecting more action in the aroma and flavor. Instead it had almost not aroma and a fairly minimal flavor. Minimal is relative since I'm into hoppy beers. There was a mild bitterness and some subtle spice notes goin on. It left with a clean aftertaste that made it pleasant to drink.

I think I'd have it again if I lived in a state other than PA and it was easier to by in sizes less than a case.

First of all, where the heck did I get this beer?!?! Marburg? Dig? Merchant's? I wish I hadn't waited so long to try it. Frankly, the picture on the label didn't do anything for me. I wonder how many Spatens and Urquells were used to jangle this poor bottle to the back of the fridge. I'm sorry beer.

Look: hazy orange-yellow with a remarkably dark cream-colored head.

It does smell like marmelade, Grand Marnier, and a pan with melting butter just before it starts to burn. Fritter dough too, perhaps, knobs bursting into the hot grease. Plus there's a caky, dried herbal quality, like sheafs of unthreshed grain or hay bales.
In the mouth it is very velvety with a bitter orange-peel organization to the sweet honey sweetness. This slick, nectar-like note surges on the finish (something that puzzles me). Could it be rocks of candy sugar finally melting? Quarry water and sugar on the finish keeps it from being perfectly drinkable. But it's good enough for me.

Just the gold side of orange -- like an agar plate for any biologists out there -- with a billowing head that as it dissipates forms, rather ironically considering the color of the beer, pockets of bubbles that ressemble bacterial colonies.

Clove cigarettes and orange hit the nose. A very "mixed jelly" and orange peel flavor grace this mellow beer. It tastes like flowers smell, and the best way I can describe it is with a fruit analogy. The reasonably high alcohol content isn't even noticeable, buried under a heap of oranges, malt, and hops.

Crisp and spritzy with a snappish bitter and dry gingery and peppery flavour. Hints of spices like coriander and citric peel grace the taste buds. Slight shortbread like sweetness from the malt. Trace acidity and some hops throw more into the complex mix.
