Reviewed from notes. The appearance was a murky brown color with a finger’s worth of white foamy head that fell off at a good pace. Some lace, slightly messy. The aroma had some sweet nuts with a delicate roastiness underneath, light amount of milk chocolate, mild dark chocolate and a subtle earthy hop bitterness. The flavor leaned towards the sweeter side and developed some honey sweetness. Aftertaste was sweet through the honey and the chocolate. Finish was slightly sticky and sweet. The palate was just a tad under medium bodied with a pretty good sessionability about it. Carbonation felt good, pretty smooth all around my tongue. Overall, pretty good brown ale that I could have again.

I visited Elm City for the first time, and had this and the IPA, and took home a growler of the schwartzbier. This particular one was my least favorite, just because it was so average. It was a brown color with a small head and a klittle lacing. It had a sweet, but nondescript aroma. A sweet, honey taste, with a little malt. Decent mouthfeel. Average beer.
