Poured on-tap and served in a tumbler pint, the beer is a dark brown/black coloring with ruby highlights and a foamy, light, beige head. The nose is of mocha and chocolate. Smooth and roasty, light bodied, with dark chocolate/cocoa nib forward flavors and a slight dark roast coffee characteristic at the end. Dry, slightly bitter aftertaste cleans the palate for a clean finish. Good, solid stout.

On-Tap at Elm City for happy hour ($2) on 2/28/07
AP: Dark brown almost black with a very dark-mocha colored head that's a 1/4" deep, tight and even, dissipated to a constant 1/8" scattered covering and a good amount of sticky lacing clinging to the glass.
Nose: Very roasty with a big coffee scent and mild dark-chocolate malt aroma. A subtle and herbal hop flavor finishes it off.
Taste: Very roasty with a big coffee and roasted almonds flavor over a dark-chocolate malt. Slightly bitter but not at all overpowering and finishes with a nice subtle herbal and slightly spicey hop ending.
MF: Full bodied, dark and dank with a smooth and creamy feel thanks to the well-retained head. Not as Full and heavy as some of the same style though.
DA: This is a nice example of this, the chocolate flavor could be bigger, the roasted coffee effects are really what stands out in the flavor. Overall, very enjoyable.
