Alewife, the kids and I stopped into Elm City today for some lunch and a couple o' pops.... Weizenbock? C'mon down!!
Pours a tawny, copper-brown color, with some cloudiness within. Head was Twiggy-thin and fine, with some lace, but not a whole lot... Has a solid clove nose, with choco notes as well, and a smidge of banana. Nice! Body was medium, and on the tongue? Fairly smooth, with a light bit of bubbly/prickliness... Good overall. Flavor is crisp and wheaty, with more easily evident hits of chocolate and clove. Again, as in the aroma, there's some banana, though light. Finishes dry and tasty. A decent, solid stab at the style, though lacks the full, rich flavor of the Master, Aventinus. Will have to have more, if possible.
Zum Wohl!!
