On tap at the brewpub
I hope I am reviewing the correct beer, the one I was served was called Smoked Stack Porter, I'm not sure what f and c is in the title here. Pours a dark brown color with a minimal tan head even when coaxed. Smells of coffee, roasted grains, hints of smoke and a slight astringency. Taste is mostly coffee slightly astringent like day old coffee. Hints of chocolate and malt in the taste, but mostly coffee. Medium body and level of carbonation with a slick oily mouthfeel. This was decent, but nothing special. I could have lived without the astringent nature of this one.

From a growler purchased the day beofre (and kindly brought to me by friends who were on their way back from a trip to New England).

Pours brown with no head.

The smell is soft/mild. Some cocoa powder with subtle hints of nuts. There is a musty aroma in the back.

The taste is of powdered cocoa. Some fruitiness/nuttiness. Nice bittersweet balance.

The body is rather thin and spritzy. Barely holds on to medium body. But, okay.

An averagish porter. Pretty easy to drink/mild. Nothing exciting.

Poured a deep>DEEP brown/root beer color. Near Black. A rather thin head that dissipated into a nice amount of lacing rather quickly.

Green hop, smokey malt, slighty nutty aroma.

Taste has an excellent smokey malted flavor, not heavy, plenty of carbonation that makes this dark brew very light on the palate. This light/medium body brew also displays a very abundant flowery hop effect that even and balances out the taste really well.

Very easy to drink, a nice clean feel for a roasty dark beer.
