Pours a dark coffee colour, clear with nice tan head. Retains a medium crown. Looks good. Looks very good.
Smells very sweet, with a touch of chocolate and coffee sweetness for balance. Caramel, vanilla, some peanuts and a touch of honey. Lots of sweet, chocolatey characters. Pleasant.
Taste is similar, bit lighter on the roasty front with none of that espresso character, just unsweetened chocolate for balance this time. Vanilla, caramel and a touch of cinnamon towards the back. Slightly buttery at times, maybe just a hint of diacetyl? Not dominant though; overall just a sweet, pleasant brown ale.
Falls a bit on the feel due to unescapable alcohol heat. Quite sharp, really, mars an otherwise very pleasant palate.
Quite big and very sweet, but enjoyable.
