March 2015: 500 ml bottle, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. Batch #1210. ABV is 7%, IBU 24. Very dark brown colour, large beige head. Pleasant malty aroma, mild roasty notes, mild coffee, dark chocolate, woodwork, hints of molasses. The flavour is also malty but not too sweet, again mild roasty notes with some coffee and chocolate, hints of liquorice, maybe not very complex, but certainly nice enough to drink.

Bottle: Poured a clear black color porter with a nice brown foamy head with good retention and some good lacing. Aroma of chocolate notes with light roasted malt notes is quite sublime. Taste is also dominated by nice chocolate malt notes with light residual sugar notes. Body is too thin for style with good carbonation and no apparent alcohol. Enjoyable chocolate oriented beer but falls a bit short on the complexity side.

Pours very dark brown with a large head.
Nose shows cocoa, milk chocolate, cherry and roasted malt.
Similar flavours but with more of a focus on bready malt rather than cocoa or roast. A fair sweetness in the finish.

Nice, full baltic porter. Chocolate and roast malt, quite a clean flavour, A touch of alcohol heat. RIch and nice - nothing surprising, just solid and enjoyable, sort of like Nogne's Imperial Stout. Good stuff.

Pours dark brown, close to black, with a half finger beige-tinged white head, slowly receding to a nice frothy margin and cap.
A lot of bitter cocoa powder on the nose, some baking chocolate, light coffee powder, raisin bits, earthy, roasted malts, a touch of berry jam, faint licorice and a splash of alcohol warmth.
The usual Nøgne Ø dark malts really kick in the taste (amazing how they handle that in almost every one of their beers), with some nice juicy fig, dried blackberry and blackcurrant, laced with caramel. Clear, not too dark chocolate, some toffee, hint of spice and the tiniest bit of coffee powder in the finish, that's also shared with a nice herbal hoppy feel, but not really bitter. Hint of licorice and anise in here, too.
The alcohol in the end is well contained, but does dry up the palate a bit. The aftertaste has nice dried dark fruit (clearer plum), roasted malt (with a bit of smoke) and chocolate, all moderately bitter. Medium to light body, low carbonation.
They just can't get a dark beer wrong.

Consumed on a very very cold and windy night, 500ml of baltic porter seemed like a good choice.
A - Pours into a dimpled mug dark brown with some orange highlights when held to the light. A finger of beige head eventually turns to a thick ring and slight cap.
S - A faint scent of roast, chocolate malt, bread and dark fruit.
T - Taste is more intense and complex. Good dose of bitter smoky roast and leathery chocolate, with some brown sugar and plummy dark fruit. Some toasty grain and some light herbal hoppage.
M - Somewhat robust feel for 7% - big body and lays down some bitter roast on the palate. Well-carbonated. Kinda stoutish.
O - Nogne's 'big dark' beers have always shined and this is no exception. A pretty nice flavor profile (kinda reminds me of De Molen stouts) for the ABV, but perhaps a little overwhelmed by bitter roast.
