Drank from my Duvel Tulip
A - Pours a deep clear Mahogany colour with an off White head that disappears quickly.
S - Nothing of note other than small yeast and fig
T - Up front some dark fruit and bread. The finish is a little bitter but watery.
M - Medium body and a little overcarbonated.
O - There are many better examples of the style and doesn't come close to Achel Brune

Pours a dark copper brown hue which leaves a frothy bubble laden two finger head that stays and leaves some nice lacing, the smell is booze, raisins and chocolate malts, the mouthfeel is very light bodied and doesnt suit for the style and even for a brown ale its on the lighter side thats for sure but the tastes of raisins soaked in light brandy, milky coffee, caramel and fruit cake are still there and overall nothing to rave on about but easy enough to drink and better than average but the mouthfeel really lets it down and if that was different you probably see a better version of this thats for sure as the tastes are there just not reinforced with a nice body cheers.

This beer was @ the Borefts festival in Bodegraven, Holland. Nogne was there with some beers which were new to me, this was the second beer i drank on the festival.
Poured in the De Molen festival tastingglass, a good glass to taste beers, the beer looks very nice and well balanced. The brewers told me the beer was medium bitter biut i found it very pleasant drinkable. Nice dark fluid with a very decent head.

Hmm...I didn't know this was supposed to be a BSDA when I was drinking it...had it down as a simple Brown Ale.
Pours dark brown with a really nice thick head.
Nose is milk chocolate, chocolate syrup (i.e. what you use to make milkshakes), some vinegar, malt poking through and rye.
Taste is the same with a wet dog note. The thinnish mouthfeel disappoints a bit (at the time I didn't realise it was a BSDA but I stand by my comments). Bit of caramel coming through.
Overall a good "brown" ale.

.5L bottle with the following information: batch number 491, brewed 180310, best before 180313. Purchased from a Vinmonopolet store somewhere in the Stavanger area.
Pours a rich dark brown, almost a porter-like black. Tan creamy head of about 1.5 fingers in height. Gradually slims down to a still generous covering. This beer is not very clear. Some sediment may have entered the glass. Some patches are more translucent, but overall fairly opaque.
Smell is of brown sugar, Belgian yeast, caramel, some raisons and figs. Quite appetizing.
Taste is more of the same, which is not at all disappointing! More specifically, there is a nice sweet malt backbone with a hint of caramel and a slightly burnt finish. Taste is a little light in a sense, almost as if the flavors are slightly diluted. Not really a criticism, but some of the flavors are more muted. Just an observation. Makes this one easier drinking. Raisons and figs in the background round out the flavor profile. The one criticism I do have of the taste is that this beer does not seem to "finish." In other words, the flavors build up nicely as the beer travels across the mouth, but misses a satisfying finishing note.
Mouthfeel is a strength here--creamy and substantial. Just the right amount of carbonation. Very easy going down--smooth.
Overall a pleasant Norwegian take on a Belgian Dark Ale. While not world class in the category, this is a very respectable effort and one that I would gladly consume in the future. Can't believe I'm only the 4th to review this one.

Bottle: Poured a dark brown color ale with a nice foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma consists of candi sugar and dark caramel malt with light dry raisins. Taste is a nice mix between some candi sugars with dark Belgian malt with light fruity ester with dry raisins notes. Body is quite full with good carbonation and some good lacing. Very well brewed and more complex then I had anticipated.

Had a bottle of this at Christiana's Resto Pub on the 2nd floor terrace. Poured with a fine creamy head that fades quicly and no lace. Typical of Belgian brown ale. Nutty, roasty, toffee, a little dark ripe fruit. Malt. Very fine carbonation. Bit of a boozy finish. Opaque brown color. Little too rich for a session.

500 ml bottle, courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 6.0%. Very dark brown colour, like a porter. Nice and creamy beige head. Moderate but nice aroma of belgian ale yeast, spices and oak. The flavour has brown malts, caramel, brown sugar, moderate spices and woody notes, decent hops in the finish. Not too sweet. This is in no way Nøgne Ø's "biggest" beer, but it is nice and drinkable and impossible to dislike.
