Matured for 20 months in American zinfandel barrels. The Californian barrels have brought out the full taste of this Belgian quadruple.

330 ml bottle, batch #10221, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. ABV is 14.5%, IBU 30. Very dark brown colour, nearly black. Moderate beige head. Aroma of roast malts, red wine and oak. Medium sweet flavour with the same elements, also mild spices, hints of dark chocolate and liquorice. Very tasty.

Black, with a hint of red. Almost no foam.
Aroma and taste: Dark fruits, liquorice, somewhat toasty, caramel.
Bitter finish, some oak, a bit dry.
Red wine barrels are not super obvious to me, mostly in the mouthfeel, which is the strongest point here. A bit creamy and pleasant.

Overall I preferred the furious fifties, which was fruitier and less roasted.
