Very dark plum, approaching black, with a thin dark khaki head. Fig, caramel and dessert wine in the nose. The same qualities carry to the taste, much stronger, joined by honey, some vanilla, cherry and a hint of sugared coffee. Medium bodied, chewy feel with strong, soft carbonation. Fun one.

Trying to show some love for this underrated brewery that's been around for as long as I've been into beer. Had on draft at The Whale West Asheville. Nose pops tye most with cocoa, caramel, molasses and dark fruit. Somewhat vinous both in aroma and flavor with a suggestion of toasted oak and leather. Slight bitterness on the finish. Overall quite well rounded and the abv is concealed quite well. Just now seeing that this was matured in Madeira casks which explains both the sweetness and vinous quality

Bottled 3/21/24; drank 3/23/25 @ the Yarchives.
Dark brown appearance.
A rough pour yielded a small, noisy dark tan head; minimal lacing remained.
Leather & raspberry notes in the nose.
Medium thick, sticky mouthfeel.
Raspberry, leather, caramel & wood flavors.
Sweet & a bit sticky but enjoyable.
