A: pours a deep mahogany with a tawny latter ring. You are not able to see through it but its body is clear.
S: complex notes of dark fruit like raisins, plums and figs. This is accompanied by roasted notes and chocolate overtones. Very nice.
T: beautiful is the way it follows the nose. The chocolate hits first but is quickly overwhelmed by the dark fruit flavors. The hint of smoke creeps up at the end to provide a flavorful finish.
M: for an 8.6% ABV, this drinks light and begs to be sipped. It drinks thick with an almost medical quality and coats the tongue. Finishes with a long and tasty hang that leaves you wanting more.
O: a great interpretation of the style and wonderfully flavored. If you find it, pick it up. A great beer to sip in the latter stages of winter to ring in the spring.

On tap at WLV, Zwanze 2012.
A: Dark brown body with a light chocolate head.
S. Mild roast, coffee, chocolate, milky sweetness. One could mistake this for a sweet milk stout if not informed.
T. Nice roast, dark fruit, milk chocolate, bready. Some apricot and cocoa notes.
M. Almost thick-bodied with light carbonation.
O: This was pretty tasty. A bit sweet, but not overly so.

Pours a dark kola beer hue which leaves a creamy one finger head and little lacing here and there, the smell is molasses, prunes, boozy alcohol and cherries, the mouthfeel is medium bodied and nicely carbonated with tastes of chocolate coated cherries, raisins, brown sugar, molasses, carrot cake and finished with a sweet maltiness and overall its alright just abit sweet for my liking and i dont think ill get a refill of it again after this 2litres is over as ill definately be over it and after being this cheap its definately not about the price cheers.

On draft at Churchkey in D.C. for the Nøgne Ø beer event. Kjetil Jikiun told me that he will not brew this beer again, as he does not enjoy making lagers.
The beer is rusty orange to brown hued with a mild haze and a small head. The aroma is mild, offering a touch of sweetness, malt, and subtle hints of alcohol and molasses. The flavor is more forward and present than the aroma, with a fruity, malty sweetness and a nice bready character. Pretty light in body and easy to drink. Hard to believe this is nearly 9%. I could definitely enjoy a few pints of this. Not on the level of Andechser or Ayinger Celebrator, but still a solid beer. I would have this again.
