Picked this up at La Capsule Cave à Bière in Nancy, France. Murky orange-brown pour with a fluffy three finger off-white head with great retention and lacing. The nose is amazing and exactly as advertised. All the spicy, yeasty, citrusy character of a Belgian Pale Ale with a nice subtle hint of fresh ground black pepper. The taste follows suit in a bolder, but not overpowering way. Spicy with hints of yeast, lemon zest, coriander, pine, and the absolute perfect amount of fresh ground peppercorns. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with nearly perfect carbonation and a great tangy, zesty, hoppy finish. Overall, I was expecting this to be kind of gimmicky and unappealing, and instead it was unique and totally drinkable. It reminded me of a modern craft beer version of Orval. Highly recommended!
