Appearance This one came out of the tap a thick, heavy, promising brown in color with a huge, retentive head. This just looks like a big beer.
Smell The giant PacNW hops came out in droves. The pine especially was big and resiny. I had this at an outdoor beer fest where the aroma can easily dissipate in the cool Lake Union wind, but this nose was monstrous. The malts too were big and toasty with lots of juicy caramel.
Taste The malts not only picked things up at the taste but were still dwarfed by the intense hoppage. I swear they maybe even tasted a bit roasted. They were still no match though for the gianormous, toe-curling resiny hops. They packed a lot of big flavors into this beer.
Mouthfeel This DIPA is in between medium and full-bodied. It is chewy, oily on the teeth, and extremely bitter.
Drinkability I know Ive already said it, but this is a big, big beer. Its not for the faint of heart, but if you like your DIPAs large and in charge, seek out this powerful offering from Druids. Itll be hard to find but worth the search.
Comments I had this at (of all places) the 2005 Fremont Oktoberfest. It was in its own special booth away from the rest of the Oktoberfest beers. A little off-theme but a killer brew nevertheless.
