22oz bottle poured into a snifter
A- pours a deep black color with a one-finger foamy khaki colored head that reduces to a ring around the glass
S- coconut and vanilla both present on the nose, giving notes of vanilla cream and sliced coconut. Undertones of honey, chocolate, dark fruits and bourbon barrel
T- coconut cream and vanilla up front, followed by chocolate and roast, along with a hint of honey sweetness. The finish adds some oaky bourbon and linger of vanilla and coconut
M- medium body with moderate carbonation, foamy mouthfeel that turns into a creamy finish
O- my favorite of this series, the coconut and vanilla come through quite well

Feels and tastes like the other Event Horizon variants. Smell is dark cocoa, a bit of dark chocolate, whiskey. Not much vanilla here or on the palate. Medium in body, good carbonation. Honestly not as good as the description makes it sound out to be, but solid bourbon stout nonetheless.

Appearance: Pours fudge colored with a modest tan head; leggy, with an extravagance of lacing
Smell: Chocolate fudge, with moderate roast; Bourbon and vanilla tones are prominent with just a hint of coconut
Taste: Roast and chocolate forward, with some honey tones building underneath; through the middle, the Bourbon and oak tones add depth, with the vanilla apparent in the finish; as with the aroma, there coconut impact is very modest
Mouthfeel: Full bodied with low to moderate carbonation; creamy
Overall: A fine beer but I was hoping that the coconut would make a bigger statement

Very clearly descended from the Imperial Stout base, but with some fun and subtle additions. The vanilla is the most clear addition on the nose, with a fair amount competing with the honey and dark roasted malts of the base. Coconut is weaker, as one might expect. Finally, the base beer is already so distinctive that it's difficult to pick up much in the way of barrel influence until hitting the palate. Not greatly different, but I'm glad to have the opportunity to try one of these variants.
