I wanted to like this one more than I did, and really it is because of the mint. Wonderful in the smell, with cocoa, oak, huge brandy booze and lingering dark fruit. The taste though the mint is too much, combined with the sweet burn of the booze, it is an aftertaste that is hard to enjoy, especially as it warms. I like the beginning with the honey especially, a fig minton if you will, but it quickly fades out of balance. Feel has booze burn and sharp textures, jarring, but is chewy. I really like the creativity, but it missed the mark in execution.

Appearance: Arrives pitch black with a one inch tan head; good retention and lacing action
Smell: Mint chocolate and Brandy with fig and oak tones
Taste: Mint chocolate forward with hints of fig developing; the Brandy arrives, in the middle, but the mint comes on strong in the finish
Mouthfeel: Full bodied with moderate carbonation; warmth in the gullet
Overall: While I enjoyed the chocolate and fig intermingling with the Brandy, the mint was a bit strong; perhaps that aspect will calm down as the beer develops in the bottle
