Appearance: Pours a shade shy of pitch black with an ecru head that fades to a collar; spotty lacing

Smell: Charred malt, licorice and maple with the Whiskey barrel and vanilla enveloping

Taste: Charred malt forward with the licorice, vanilla and maple plowing into sweeter depths; plenty of tropical flavor from the pineapple but there is also a hop presence that joins with the Whiskey barrel; all the flavors persist into the finish

Mouthfeel: Full bodied with moderate carbonation

Overall: While I would prefer and even bigger mouthfeel, this Impy Stout brings a lot of flavor and the addition of the pineapple is a stroke of genius

12oz bottle poured into a tulip

A- pours black in color with a one-finger foamy khaki head that has short retention

S- whiskey barrel on the nose initially, giving aromas of oak, whiskey and caramel. Undertones of charred malt, chocolate and a sweetness of maple and honey. Not finding any pineapple

T- Pineapple is actually noticed immediately on the flavor, adding a tropical blast and a hint of tartness. Beyond the pineapple, sweet notes of maple and honey, followed by chocolate and charred malt. The finish brings out undertones of whiskey barrel, as well as more pineapple, which sticks around on the linger

M- medium body with moderate carbonation leads to a foamy mouthfeel that continues into a slightly warming finish

O- the pineapple works well that this stout, certainly worth a try
