Had on cask at Steel String Brewery in C-boro over the weekend.Poured a chocolate brown with the cask induced creamy-like beige head atop.Light earthy and piney hops with a hint of dark bread in the nose.Pine resin stands out upfront on the palate with more earth and toasted cedar wich isn't big but is well rounded, some mild brown sugar-like sweetness is there along with light alcohol induced sweetness. Not a big in your face ABA but the cedar adds a nice touch.

on cask at beer study in chapel hill. pint glass.
this is a mixture between death by hops and black raven, as the name suggests
pours a dark brown with a nice looking head. not quite opaque. smell is slightly hoppy, definitely an IPA but not too pronounced. the taste is smooth, hops are present but not in your face. nice flavor with a good bitter kick at the end. lighter side of medium body, surprising considering the ABV, but that's not a bad thing in this case. very easy drinking beer.
overall a solid IPA from Olde Hickory.
