On tap at Ortino's Northside.

Beer poured a golden yellow color, slight haze in the body. The head was about 1/2 thick and very foamy, off white. Nice big bubbles. The aroma was a floral hop bouquet with a touch of malt, caramel on the nose. The taste is a nice big hop bit up front with a touch of alcohol notes and a slight malt backbone on the end. Not overly complex but a nice mouthfeel and medium bodied beer.

Served on cask at the Sharp Edge Creekhouse. Served in pint glass.

Appearance: Slightly murky amber. Thick white head with some staying power.

Smell: Lemon hops and honey with a bit of brown sugar. Not quite as strong as some IPA's.

Taste: Strong hops up front, alcohol in the middle, bitter finish. This lacks any complexity. Lots of hops, though.

Mouthfeel: Medium body, rather low in carbonation.

Drinkability: This beer is all about bitter and that hurts it a bit, even for an IPA.

This is the Legacy Triple H IPA.

I had this on tap at Zeno's in State College PA.

Appearance: Served to me a hazy golden orange color. The head was gone when I got it so I can't comment on it.

Smell: The aroma reminded me of the sweet bitter smell of Hedonism (if you are familiar with that beer).

Taste: I liked this but it really tasted like a similar recipe to Hedonism. The difference is, This one HHH is very pleasant and easy while Hedonism is a bit harsh (tasty though). It seems like they balanced it out and changed the name. The flavor is of candied malts and bitterness. I do really enjoy the bitterness that lingered in the aftertaste.

Mouthfeel: Crisp and hoppy and bitter, all the while tingly in the mouth.

Drinkability: I really enjoyed this beer and will likely pick up a case. Very drinkable.

Hope this is helpful.
Cheers!

I had this on tap at Bixler's Lodge in Mt. Penn, Pa. A smoker's fucking paradise if ever there was one.

Arrived a very slightly hazy gold with an orange tint. 1/2 finger of off-white foam head, which slowly dropped to a coating and a ring. Some, but not much, lacing observed.

Aroma is citrusy/grassy hops, pleasant, light caramel/pale malts, light fruituness. Aromas are too delicate for an AIPA.

There is something a little different about the flavor in there. It has a fairly strong bittering level, nice bready/toffee malt character, and kind of a grassy, citrusy hop flavor. Maybe a little metallic aftertaste. Something just not quite right. Not strong, but noticeable. Also, maybe needs a little more malt and hops, but that could just be me.

Mouthfeel is refreshing, though a little thin. Clean, crisp, and bitter at the back of the throat. Good degree of carbonation.

This is a good beer, though I feel it just needs a little more to put it up there with the better American IPA's. You look at the breweries everyone is talking about, and they all have some kind of a kick-ass beer. This is not that beer, but I do recommend it.

It came to me an orangey amber, cloudy and lively, along with a dense off-white head that dwindled slowly to a swirly foam slick. Lacing stuck stickily to the glass the whole way down.

The aroma was light and thin, with a distant caramel malt note and a slightly more pronounced floral hops air.

Upon sipping, the mixture of malt came first, a grainy sugar- sweetness that blended in notes of caramel and bread crust. The hops, singularly floral at first, soon took over the show, and developed into a flowery mist that incorporated a light citrus tone as well. It comes off as balanced evenly at first, but in no time the hops assert considerably more firmly, and the finish leaves a dry potpourri behind.

Pretty much medium bodied, the hops presence is midly oily and helps to keep the palate jacketed by the malt sweetness. The crisp, dry hops glow is a nice lingering touch.

Like I said, it seemed balanced at first, but then the hops came on, and still, I don't know that it was imbalanced so much as exactly what Legacy wanted to deliver. The blend of malts were there more as a backdrop against which the combination of hops could take center stage. The aroma/flavor inequity was surprising once I'd tasted it, but it is what it is. The various malts and hops used combine to yield what is actually an uncomplicated IPA, and the bottom line is it works well enough to be quite enjoyable. Maybe not at the top of the style charts, but I liked it enough to have another, and would do the same again.

Hazy orange hued pour with cloudy appearance and a dense head cap of ivory froth.

Bright hop aromatic profile that is more bittered than hopped.

First swigs: Aromatic characteristics carry over to the flavor. A bittered confectioners sugar hop gritty bitterness of a lemon peel, rather than gushy hop syrup. Some orange Pez candy if you can imagine that. Clean finish.

Medium body and easy drinkability. Too bad that this seems to be scarce in availibility.

Last swigs: Heavy Handed Hops was on tap at the Desmond's 7th Annual Beer Fest and tonight at UJs. Quite a treat. This would be a great one for Legacy to get out more to beer bars and the like.
