Wow, a hippie themed Kolsch, I can heardly contain the excitement I am feeling. Does pour with a nice clear gold color, and a proud 3/4" head. Smell is malt and grain, much like a macro lager. Taste is malty and plain, slightly grassy, slightly grainy. Not very distinctive in flavor, at all. Hops are very low levels. A pretty bland and boring Kolsch, which gets it's proverbial teeth kicked in by the last kolsch I had (about 1/2 hour ago), August Schell's Zommerfest.

Sampled 2005 at the Clark Street Ale House

Ahh.. back at the Clark Street having a brew and in the ongoing attempt to have beers different that what I've had before, I order myself a "Groovy Brew"

Good sized hop bite to the nose making a bit of surprise for a fairly golden brew with no head. (Generally a bad sign in the Beechum handbook)

Flavor was grainy with just a hint of fruitness. A good level of CO2 despite the inability to hold a head.

Overall a fair drinker of middling consequences, but still a tasty little number that most people should be happy to see available to their palates.

Clear pale gold with a short-lived white topping.
Nose of crispy pils malts, burnt rubber, and dying fields.
Taste profile is largely similar. Enters with a crackery pils maltiness bolstered with subliminal wheat hues. Runs astrays a bit towards the middle with those same rubbery traits. But they are minor enough not to run this entirely aground. Regroups towards the finish with a moderated grassy hop conclusion.
Light bodied and inoffensive. Carbonation tapers off as it rests. Most of what is here is forgotten as soon as it leaves the mouth.
Not awful, just a bit of a yawner.

Good to see Kölsch popping up as a summer style in America. This has a clean wheaty smell upon opening, though some adjunct seems present. Pours a slightly dark yellow, like a hearty pilsener, under a thin head with minimal lacing. Taste is slightly malty and wheaty with some citrus zest, and a just a bit of German hops. This doesn't match up to Goose Island Summertime, the only other American Kölsch I've found, but it's a nice, light ale. In a style that's hard to make an exceptional example in.

Pale straw color with a nice foamy white head. Nice pilsner malt aroma. Pretty carbonated. It feels a little too full of gas as I swallow. I get slight pils malt taste and some tanginess. Refreshing beer. There's a mellowness that makes it easy to drink. Some dry notes present (probably from hops). A lttle better than average Kolsch.
