Official blurb first:
The brew crew from Stone has returned, for the third time, to brew a beer especially for a Wetherspoon real-ale festival, this time at Adnams Brewery, in Suffolk. This is an overwhelmingly hoppy beer, with a silky bitterness on the finish, with a subdued roast character present, resulting in a beer which looks like a dark porter, yet drinks like an American IPA.
Hops used: Cascade, Centennial, Citra, First Gold, Galaxy, Sterling
Dry hopped with Galaxy and Citra.
Hand-pulled half-pint in the William Withering, Wellington on 19th Oct 2013.
She's black, just like the name (might even be self-conscious for all I know) with a tan coloured head.
It's hoppy: very hoppy, it's bitter, very bitter. Both the taste and aroma leave you in no doubt this is a hop monster in every aspect, I thought they might even have forgotten to put the malts in the mash tun until some dark chocolate notes appeared as the beer warmed a little.
Different for the UK and although a bit too hop laden for my palate I did enjoy the experience.
