Cask at the Number Twenty-2, Darlington. Black colour, ruby in the highlights, creamy beige head. Nice aroma of mildly roasted malts, mild coffee and chocolate. Smooth mouthfeel. Roasty flavour, medium sweet (or medium dry, if you like), notes of coffee.

Solid, thick, unflinchingly ebony-espresso darkish brown with a frail head the color and texture of parchment. Massively inviting nose is heavy on prunes, molasses, and smoke, and if I'm not mistake, there is a distinct sea breeze to this beer - calling to mind wakame or, yes, oysters. Sleek and focused on the palate with a strong coffee flavor, and edge of vinous, pruney fruitiness, and lots of burnt sugar. The dry but medium body suits the robust yet restrained flavor well. There is no oyster flavor as far as I can tell, but this would be delicious to pair with them. Good stuff overall, an excellent 'savory' stout that would probably work well with a lot of different food.
