Bottle. Very dark brown with a quickly dissipating bubbly tan head.
Smells of charred brown bread with hints of dark chocolate.
Over toasted brown bread flavour. Hints of dark fruit with a cocoa bitterness to finish.
Light to medium body. Rich carbonation.
Insubstantial.

A 330ml bottle with a BB of Sept 2017. Purchased a while back from M&S. The label describes it as a coffee porter brewed with M&S Colombian coffee beans.
A: Poured into a tulip. A very dark brown colour with ruby highlights; appears almost black in the glass. Light carbonation and a decent head of creamy brown foam that lasts for a minute or so before collapsing and dissipating.
S: Aroma of rich roasted coffee with hints of intense coffee beans, subtle fruitiness, dark malt, mild sweetness, a twinge of molasses and faint ale yeast. A vague metallic twang lurks in the background. Very nice - plenty of coffee character.
T: Tastes of vivid fruity coffee with notes of freshly ground beans, roasted grain, dark malt, a hint of molasses, subtle sweetness and mild ale yeast. A measured, coffee-driven bitterness upon swallowing.
M: Mouthfeel is smooth and lightly tingly, with soft carbonation and decent body. Could perhaps be a shade thicker for the strength. Aftertaste of bitter coffee and roasted malt, fruitiness and subtle sweetness.
O: Very nice - a quality effort for a supermarket beer. Subpar looks, however the aroma and flavour are superb. Decent body. The coffee character and dark malt meld together perfectly; a must-try brew for anyone who likes a coffee beer. Well worth sampling.
