Had on cask at The Seven Stars in London. Somewhat forgettable but I remember it was fine, pretty good even. Just not standout on a trip full of standout ales. It's quite malty and maybe a little too much on the sweet side. Overall quite understated, but enjoyable in the right time and place.

Rating 1: 500 ml bottle, bought in Norway. A new beer from Adnams, developed from their long gone Champion Pale Ale. Amber colour, big off-white head. Biscuits, some malts and a moderate fruitiness in the aroma. The flavour has fruity hops on a decent malty base, and the mouthfeel is very good for a 3.4% beer.
Rating 2: Cask pint at The Waterman, Cambridge. ABV 3.4%. Fairly dark reddish brown colour, white head. Malty aroma and flavour, hints of dark berries.

Pours a clear coppery color and is topped with an average slightly off-color head.
The mostly malty aroma is nice and there are also some soury and alcohol notes present.
The taste is moderately bitter with slightly metallic aftertaste.
Drinkable and nice, except the finish.

A 500ml bottle with a BB of Dec 2013. Picked up a while back from Booths. Described on the label as a light, golden beer developed from their Champion pale ale.
Poured into a tulip pint glass. Slight residue in the bottle. A deep orange-amber hue with faint haze and light carbonation. Yields a decent head of white foam that lasts for a minute or two before subsiding. Aroma of mild caramel malt with hints of grain, honey, grass/hay, fruity ale yeast and subtle stewed hops. Nicely balanced.
Tastes of light caramel malt with a mild finish. Notes of grain, honey, grass/hay, faint floral hints, fruity ale yeast and stewed hops. Slightly sweet, followed by a mild, leafy bitterness upon swallowing. Mouthfeel is smooth, tingly and dry, with pleasantly soft carbonation and good body. A subtle astringency, accompanied by an aftertaste of harsh stewed hops, faint honey and yeast notes.
Very nice - a tasty ale for the relatively low ABV. Looks OK, while the aroma is lovely and the flavour also well-judged. Good body. More understated quality from Adnams; as a traditional brewery they know how to turn out a good brew. Would be perfect on a warm day. Worth sampling if you come across it.
