Clean, crisp and bracingly refreshing, our premium English lager takes its name from the legendary Kobold, a water spirit who protects North Sea sailors. Inspired by its namesake, ‘Kobold English Lager’ helps protect our precious seas and coastline by partnering with Blue Marine Foundation.

500ml bottle. Pale lager with no hop flavour, precious little malt flavour and a mouthfeel that is thin, flat and watery. Really poor effort by Adnams.

L- Pale to mid gold, clear, pours with 2mm white head that's almost all cleared within 10 seconds - unusual and it's not my glass, I'm using my regular/trusted + clean one.
S- Mild, I just get what I refer to as 'carbonic', as in CO2, like the scent of soda water, a lightly dry note. Unexpected, happens extremely rarely the Smell is this light.
T- Bright on the front. Now I see why the Smell is so light, the flavour is too. The 'middle' here is seemingly pretty absent, there is nothing really standing out to be identified, mild breadiness. Into the finish and it's a mild hoppy lick on the palate coming together with a reminder how good the CO2 is in the mouth.
F- Highly carbonated in the mouth. On the dryer side, could be refreshing in high summer esp if you don't want too much of a beer flavour.
O- Well that was disappointing! It seems to have no character to remember it by. Nothing to differentiate it from even a mass-market UK factory lager (Stella/'Kroney' etc). It does less for me than them, a shame to conclude this. No reason to buy it again either. Adnams could do so much better here.
Bought from Wholefoods, London W8 440ml can, £2.19 BB: 09-2021
p.s. My wife unprompted, zero clues what was in the glass or what I thought, concluded similar to me saying 'It tastes like lager that's been diluted to half-strength.

Oops I had this listing added as 'Kobolo', giving me visions of something 'totally tropical, and packed with exotic fruit notes'. Then I was reading the back of the can '...takes it's name from the legendary Kobolo. A water spirit that protects North Sea sailors...'. And I was thinking well our family has quite a deep history connected with sailing/diving etc at the North Sea and I've never heard of this Kobolo! ...Then I realised the font they've used on the can plays tricks with the eyes, the O and D look almost identical, and the beer is actually called Kobold! I'll ask the Mods to change it, meanwhile I haven't heard of this Kobold either hehe!
