Pleasant but not something to rave about. Many flavours present.

330ml nice blue bottle. Shaker glass. Enjoyed @ Freiburg (Barcelona). Bright golden color & crystal clear appearance. White foam shows fairly good retention. Herbal & moderate malty aroma. Crispy upfront with herbal bitter flavor. Light body. Moderate carbonation. Watery texture. Spicy palate. dried astringent finish & herbs on the aftertaste. Well balanced malts & hops but quite flat beer.

Coming in a 330ml slim brown bottle, BB 09/2014, served lightly chilled in a straight imperial pint glass.
A: pours a clear, pale golden hue with constant and mild carbonation as well as a nicely formed off-white frothy head.
S: on the nose, the assertive citrus/orange/floral hop notes are balanced by Adnams’ lightly salty, mineral and spicy yeasty touch, while the pale coloured malts and perhaps wheat malts provide a lightly sweet background in order for the aromatic hops and esters to shine.
T: very light in flavour, with a lightly starchy feel to the maltiness and lightly… lemony(?) on the hop side, the foretaste pretty much stays where it is instead of evolving… Given a second sip, the effervescent swallow still leads to just a clean and even crisp finish where residual aroma of citric and floral hops makes a belated and muted appearance, altogether very light in bitterness. All in all, this tastes a bit like a watered-down version of the already very mild “Explorer” blonde ale from the same brewery…
M&O: nicely carbonated, considering it is not a bottle-conditioned beer, but the body comes simply too light (not watery or thin, though) and the flavour mediocre. I don’t know what this beer comes in a non-conventional 330ml slim bottle; I hope this packaging is not to encourage binge-drinking straight from them over-chilled bottles…?!

5.0% abv blue glass bottle, chilled to 5 degrees. Left to warm whilst drinking.
A - Light yellow & hazy. Thin but persistent head - apparently the result of the the inclusion of wheat in the recipe. Could be forgiven for thinking this was a lager. Very average.
S - Very little character. More reminiscent of a warm, flat bitter than the hoppy blonde it professes to be.
T - Very little floral hop taste. I expected more of the New Zealand hops, for a premium strength bottled blonde, it is certainly lacking. Rather, it displays more of a savoury, verging bitter character. Very smooth blending of tastes - perhaps thanks to the wheat.
M - Small bubbles, smooth, matches well to the generally balanced flavour profile. By far the best character of the beer.
O - Disappointing. Very much worse than any of Adnams other similar offerings - Ghost Ship, for example, exceeds Spindrift in almost every area. I understand why this beer exists - to bridge the gap between lager and craft beer. In that, it succeeds and Overall, above par, but not great. Would not buy bottled again.
