BBA Triple Stout
Aged in Heaven Hills bourbon barrels for 8 months.
From the heavens it came, emerging black as night. Our bourbon-barrel aged triple stout is silky smooth; subtle notes of smoke and leather alongside sweet black licorice and vanilla. IBUs: 52

Look: Beautiful. Thick black, opaque with a tiny rim of tan bubbles.
Smell: Not the greatest in my opinion. Lots of molasses and sweetness. No dryness at all, it’s all sweet malt with a bit of oaky bourbon. Woodsy and some alcohol as well.
Taste: Strong. Wow. Black chocolate, vanilla, whiskey, molasses, burnt dark sugar, charcoal. Lots of dark flavours. A little bit of astringency as well, oddly enough.
Feel: Average for the style. Lighter carbonation than most other styles but since it’s CO2 and not N2, it’s not as velvety smooth as some other stouts (Imperial or otherwise). With N2, this would probably be unreal.
Overall: Big beer. Huge, in fact. 2019 edition but I’m not sure if it’s ever been made before. It came in a can so long-term storage would be totally possible. It’s a beer that will take a good 8 hours to get through the full 500mL. Enjoy it, appreciate it, leave it alone for a few years to soften the edges a little. I’m glad they made this and will look for it in years to come to start a multi-year vertical.

Longwood Brewpub 'BBA Triple Stout' @ 16.0% , served from a 473 ml can ... ($10)
A-the pour is black from the can to glass with a small dissipating tan head leaving a minimal lace ring along the tulip
S-Bourbon , Barrel Aging , hardly any vanilla
T-Bourbon , BA , smoke , strong boozy swallow , licorice lingers
MF-mild carbonation , full bodied , the swallow gets stronger and stronger as the beer is slowly sipped
Ov-the 16% ABV is kinda worthy of 'big beer warning' even for a small can , share this beer
