Poured from a can into a pint glass
Appearance – The beer pours a clear cranberry color with almost no head.
Smell – The aroma is heavy of a sweet black cherry and cranberry smell mixed with a little bit of grain and mustiness and grain.
Taste – The taste is super sweet of a black cherry flavor, being rather artificial in nature, akin to an energy drink, or sports drink like flavor. There is also some light matiness and a decent showing of corn syrup. For a 10 % alcohol brew the alcohol is hidden better than I would have thought, but it is present and does make itself know to some degree. With the artificial cherry flavor and alcohol taste, one is left with cough syrup like flavor, that actually isn’t really that bad, to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the brew is think with a carbonation level that is high. For the sweet tastes the feel is good and makes for an easy sipper.
Overall – While not a good brew and while super sweet, the flavor is not that bad. There is no way I could take down a whole can (23.5 oz), but for a small sweet sipper not super bad.
