This beer is described as Bitter Woman From Hell gone wrong - I gather it was one of the first batches from the Brewers Unplugged series, but wasn't what they were looking for. Right now, you can only get this on draft at the brewery; however, it will be the basis for HopWhore, another Brewers Unplugged offering that should be out in the fall (once some of the naming issues are cleared up).
Appearance: Orange-amber color, with medium clarity and a 1/2 inch head. Dissipates to leave light lacing on the glass. Low/medium viscosity. Color really catches the light.
Aroma: While there is good citrus and grapfruit hops finish, more readily recognizable are fruity hints of raisin, plums, and a little apple cider. Far more sweet an aroma than I expected, but one that's suitably complex.
Taste: Hops is all in the middle palate, with bursts of grapefruit, oranges and a little anise. But the immediate taste is cane sugar, plums, and raisins. Incredibly fruity and slightly sweet - not, however, syrupy or over-engineered. Fruits balance out the front and back palates, leaving a pleasant malt aftertaste that balances the hops burst. Complex and refreshing.
Mouthfeel: Hops bitterness is balanced by light/edium carbonation and a light mouthfeel. Smooth finish I didn't really expect from this beer.
Drinkability: This beer is dangerous - drinkable in the extreme, with the alcohol and the hops being perfectly balanced by fruity malts. I wish I'd bought a growler of this while I was at the brewery, as it's a great summer pale ale.
