Thanks Tpatuto!

Dark brown with a bubbling brown crust. Looks pretty. This guys really know how to make their beers look good.

Has a crazy rye/whiskey/roastiness aroma. Smells great. The rye really comes across well, and even has some nice ... vanilla? ??? ... to it.

It's a shame the beer doesn't taste that great. The rye becomes too predominant, the roastiness has a strange earthy component to it, and it's pretty much just okay. The beer is shockingly dry.

Eh. Just smell it.

On tap at Tyranena's 10th Anniversary Party, November 14, 2009. As usual, this specialty porter from Tyranena isn't just good, it is outstanding.

Pours into a plastic cup like a cup of hot chocolate. Viscous but with just hints of tan lacing.

Aroma is sweet and roasty, strong on vanilla but with plenty of fruity sweet chocolate and general oakiness. All the qualities of whiskey are present but not overwhelming. This is still quite obviously beer.

Well balanced both in flavor and body. Just the right amount of alcohol heat, the right amount of whiskey oak and vanilla notes. Incredibly smooth and drinkable by the yard. Almost creamy in its texture. Plenty of roastiness, dark rye, fruity chocolate, etc... Much more dry than I would have expected. I must say that I prefer this to the regular dirty old man, which I tried again along side this.

This beer pours a dark brown with a 1/2 fingered tan head with some lacing. The smell is sweet with some hints from the oak aging. The taste is nice with a very slight oak flavor to it, a nice porter with a hint of oak aging. The mouthfeel is pleasant, the beer just seems a little undercarbonated. I could certainly drink a few of these but not an all nighter.

On tap at the "brewpub" on 8/8/08 on our way to Madison for Great Taste.

The girls at the pub were calling this unblended D.O.M. Not sure what that means...other than I guess the bottled version is a bit more tame than this.

A-Deep, dark brown with a medium tan head that reduced to a thin cap. Very little lace mostly due in part to the bourbon addition.

S-Light "bourbonesque" notes and a bit of roasted malts come through.

T-Wonderfully smooth bourbon notes melding with rich roasty malts. Really nice blend of flavours. A bitter hop bite and chocolate sneaks in at the finish.

M-Medium bodied with an EXTREME smoothness. This is so easy, I could see trouble on the horizon with this one!

D-WOW! A most impressive BBA porter. This one certainly spent enough time in the barrel. I think the only thing holding back a 5 for this one would be the mind and tongue numbing ABV!
