Reviewed from notes. The appearance was a mahogany color with a sly transparency about it. Finger’s worth of white foamy head sat atop of the beer and fell off at a good pace. Stringy lace. The aroma had some clean butterscotch, nice caramel/toffee malts, some nuts with a touch of roast and had some grassy/herbal hops. The flavor leaned into the maltiness cleverly allowing some hints of earth, bubblegum and wood. Aftertaste copied the initial sips. Finish was the same as well. The feel was about medium bodied with a fair sessionability about it. Carbonation felt good. ABV felt good as the brewer projected. Overall, I think I liked this for me, but the untrained palate will probably think this is a malt bomb. As a scotch ale, well, it’s a bit maltier than wanted. True fans might not even like this one so much.

I sampled this at the Michigan Brewers Guild Summer Fest.
A: Muddy-brown, hint of tan head, touch of lace.
S: Pleasant Golding hop aroma (not to style), toffee, bread, cotton candy.
T: Toffee, nut bread, slight sweetness, not much bitterness, not as much hop flavour as the aroma indicated. Alcohol is well hidden.
M: Moderate to full body has a pleasant silkyness. Light to moderate carbonation.
D: Good for its strength.
