The Godt Bryg series pays tribute to the proud Danish beer-brewing tradition from 33 local breweries, the oldest of which was founded in 1832. "Godt Bryg" was used to describe the best beers, and we have been inspired by those recipes. Brewed with good ingredients, and the same artisanal pride as back then, added to what we have learned about beer brewing since then - so you can now taste the history.
Double beer was often enjoyed with food and when it had to be twice as good, i.e. more alcohol and flavor. A full-bodied and powerful beer with a nice residual sweetness.

Copenhagen 21/2 2021. 50 l bottle from Meny, Søborg Hovedgade, Søborg. Part of Royal Unibrew’s series of vintage Danish beers. Label is a reproduction of old label from Odin brewery with the old one-eyed lord of Frenzy.
Pours clear, dark amber with a red hue. Mid-sized off-white head. A bit bubbly. Settles as thin patch of foam unable to cover the surface of the beer. No lacing.
Aroma is medium intense with a strong, sweet, malty odor mingling with light sour notes. Caramel and toffee. Hints of brown sugar. Modest grainy sourness.
Medium strong carbonation. Slightly thick, oily, tingling texture.
Flavor is is medium intense with a strong sweetness followed by a moderate bitterness. Aftertaste is sweet - on the verge of being sugary. Lingers for a while. Finish is malty sweet.
Quite the sweet malt-bomb.

500 ml bottle, from BilkaToGo, Skalborg. ABV is 5.7%. Mahogany colour, large to moderate beige head. Aroma of malts, dark bread, burnt breadcrumbs and caramel. Nice malty flavour, sweeter than the aroma made me expect, but not too much. Distinct notes of caramel and dark bread, hints of prunes, moderate hops.
