In 1939, Faxe Bryggeri launched a strong Christmas brew of the Munich beer type. It was relaunched again in the 1950s. Look forward to toasting this dark full-bodied lager with plenty of Munich malt.

0.5l bottle into a tulip glass. Best before june 2024, been keeping it since christmas 2023.

Deep caramell nose with dried apricot. Nice, straightforward and unconplicated brow sugar sweetness on the palate with some canned apricot. Tiny licorise hint. Somethig cherry liqueur-like and cola.

Uncomplicated and pleasant, danish beer at its best. Makes you long for flæskesteg. I think I've been putting this one of because the association to the Tuborg julebryg which I think you have to be danish and drunk to like.

Copenhagen 1/12 2021. 50 cl bottle from Føtex, Mimersgade, Kbh. NV. Brown and wood-like label with a red seal, a crown and Gothic letters.

Pours clear amber with a mid-sized white head. Settles as thin but consistent layer of foam covering the surface of the beer. Crawling up the sides of the glass. Moderate lacing.

Aroma is moderately intense with a sweet malty odor mingling with sour notes. Caramel, toffee, wallpaper paste, burnt sugar. Sharp sour grains.

Light carbonation. Slightly thick, oily, soft, lightly tingling texture.

Flavor is medium intense with a fairly strong sweetness followed by a moderately strong bitterness. Aftertaste is caramel-ish. Lingers for a while. Finish is malty sweet.

From ancient times where they were not afraid of going all in with the malt shovel.
