The Godt Bryg series celebrates the proud Danish beer brewing tradition from 34 local breweries, the oldest of which was founded in 1832. "Godt Bryg" was used to describe the best beers, and we have been inspired by those recipes. Brewed with good ingredients, and the same pride in craftsmanship as back then, added to what we have learned about beer brewing since.
The recipe is inspired by the old brewery books. The beer is amber in color with a good malt body and caramelized flavor, balanced by good German hops to give a good bitterness.

Copenhagen 13/5 2022. 50 cl bottle from Meny, Borups Allé, Frb. F. The Godt Bryg's usual design with a re-issue of an old beer label set inside rather ugly brown frame. This time a label from the old Aalborg Aktie Brewery with a drawing of a young hero with shield in front of a rising sun.
Pours clear dark amber with a huge off-white head. Settles as 1 cm thick layer of foam covering the surface of the beer. Crawling up the sides of the glass. Substantial lacing.
Aroma is medium intense with a sweet and bit toasted, malty odor. Caramel and toffee. Whiff of Brown sugar. Hints of butter.
Low carbonation. Slightly thick, oily, soft, almost flat texture.
Flavor is medium intense with a medium strong sweetness followed by a moderately strong bitterness. Aftertaste is sweetish. Lingers for a bit. Finish is caramel-ish.
A sweet ad quite flat Blast from the past.
