Albani julebryg was one of the country's very first Christmas brews. These early Christmas beers are inspired by the old Christmas tradition of good strong beer. In earlier times, this kind of spoiled beer was called 'good, good' beer. The double 'good' came from doubling the good malts and brewing it with a little more care. A pampering that gave it more power and flavor.

We brew the Christmas brew in the same place as back then, in Brygger Schiøtz's beautiful old church-like brewery in the middle of Odense. That's why we also have the building on the label, as always.

Look forward to tasting this dark Christmas bock, which with its strong malt body and warmth cleanses the palate well after any Christmas meal. Its dark and strong body will lift your Christmas food to new heights.

Copenhagen 17/11 2021. 50 cl bottle from Rema 1000, Frederiksborgvej, Kbh. NV. Blue label with some kind of fortress-like building and Albani's logo. Not much Christmas paraphernalia.

Pours clear amber with a small white head. Disappears completely after a minute. No lacing.

Aroma is medium intense with a sweet malty odor bordering on being sugary. Caramel, toffee, lightly toasted malts, sugar. Whiff of metallic alcohol.

Light carbonation. Slightly thick, oily, almost flat texture.

Flavor is medium intense with a strong sweetness followed by a modest sourish bitterness. Aftertaste is sugary. Lingers for a while. Finish is sugary and metallic.

Way too sweet without even the pretense of being balanced in any way.
