Albani Special – East Kent Goldings Brown Ale is an English inspired, delicious and easy drinking Red Brown Ale, dry hopped/cold hopped with one of the most traditional English hops – East Kent Goldings – a hop that balances the beer’s malt-driven nuances of crunchy biscuits and nuts with a spicy aroma of honey and herbs. Copenhagen 30/3 2019. 50 cl can from Rema 1000, Frederikssundsvej. Kbh NV. Brown version of the Brewerys “Albani Special Line”.
Pours clear reddish brown with big, white bubbly head. Settles as 1 cm thick layer of foam covering the surface of the beer. Moderate Lacing.
Aroma is sweet and a little metallic. Caramel, lightly roasted malts, brown sugar, nuts. Lighter sharp notes rummaging in the background.
Light carbonation. Slightly thick, oily texture.
Flavor has fairly strong sweetness followed by lighter more moderate bitterness. Aftertaste is sweetish. Lingers for a bit.
A Brown Ale from the sweet side of the Street. Not a disaster - but not especially interesting either.
