Poured from the tap at the South Shore brewery. Called "Irish Milk Stout" on the beer board on the wall.
Appearance: Dark black with a creamy off-white head. Long retention on the nitro-tap head.
Smell: Malty and caramel sweetness.
Taste: A very tasty stout. Fresh, creamy and easy drinking. Matly goodness with complex flavors of burnt caramel, coffee and a hint of black licorice, but nothing overpowering. One of the best Irish Stout's I've had outside of Ireland, and on par with a good fresh Guinness in Ireland (and I've had a few at the Guinness brewery in Dublin).
Mouth Feel: Very creamy, smooth and drinkable.
Drinkability: Very drinkable. I could easily see doing a few of these in a session. I was just there for lunch, so I wanted to try something else.

Poured near black with a head that recedes to a small ring.
Smell somewhat faint, but I get malts and molasses.
Tastes of molasses, malts, roasted flavor, and a slight chalky dry finish.
Mouthfeel seemed flat to me. Could have used a little more carbonation and creaminess.
Overall, I think this was a pretty decent example of the style. Though I may be biased low as the style has never particularly excited me. But it was decently drinkable, and I'd have another. For my personal tastes, South Shore has much more interesting brews than this one.

Appearance: Pours dark brown, almost black with a thin tan head that dissipates almost immediately. Looks a little watery but the color is right on.
Smell: Molasses, some coffee, sweet malts.
Taste: Molasses, some oats, coffee, grain.
Mouthfeel: Sugary! As this beer warms it becomes almost syrupy, making the last two ounces or so almost undrinkable. Way too sweet!!!
Drinkability: Starts out as a very drinkable Stout, however, the sweetness gets so bad at the end that I almost feel like Im drinking an alcy-pop.
Notes: I double-checked with a waitress and two bartenders to make sure that this was the Irish Stout and not the Rhoades Scholar Stout or something else because it does not seem to feel Irish at all. Its not all that exciting and its way too sweet.
