The Birkie Beer is either a seasonal offering or a one-shot. Not sure. It was brewed as part of the celebrations surrounding the Birkebeiner X-country Ski Race.
It's an amber brown ale made with maple syrup. Maple aroma and flavor are aparent, but subdued. You know you are drinking an ale, not sipping syrup. Hops are low, with bitterness only to balance sweetness - no strong hoppy flavor.
I hope they continue to brew this as a seasonal -- makes a nice winter treat with local roots.
