Poured a hazy golden, some head.
Smells quite floral.
Tastes of light fruits with herbal spice notes. Definitely a peach flavor in there. Not unlike a Unibroue.
Mouthfeel light and good carbonation.
This is the first Belgian I've had from South Shore, but I thought they did a very good job with it. One of their standouts for sure.

$5.00/Snifter
Deep Water Grille & South Shore Brewery
Ashland, Wisconsin
Appearance - It poured a thick golden yellow. Not much head, maybe an inch. It offered the hazy comfort I love about Belgina tripels. As the head dimished it left a nice lace trail.
Smell - The first scent I picked up was a bit of apple. I was surprised by that but it rounded the aroma with other less distiguishable fruits. It didn't smell sweet, which is good. It has a soft deepness to it's fruitiness. {My friends have often told me, I too have a deep fruityness.}
Taste - The fruit does not exist in the mouth. It has a malty taste with a sweet finish. When I say sweet I mean lovely.
Mouthfeel - This tripel is smooth like a good tripel. It doesn't overwhealm with an alcohol airiness which can happen with higher alcohol content beers.
~ I wish I could have had more than one. The next time I'm in Ashland I'll be at the South Shore Brewery hoping to score with a lovely Belgian. If ya know what I'm sayin'!?

This brew came in a brandy snifter, the closest thing available to a Belgian style tulip glass. Kudos for trying to dress up a special beer and make it into an experience, I guess.
Not a lot of head on this beer, which was deep gold, with just a bit of chill haze. The aroma reveals malt and some esters, more to the bubblegum side than the clovey side. The malt flavor carries the taste, and the alcohol is not so obvious, at least to the taste. Stand up a beer later and see if you can say that. I have no definitive knowledge of this brews strength, but I'll guess it at 8%.
The mouthfeel was a little thicker than expected. While the bartender told me it was brewed with a Belgian yeast, I also wanted to ask whether it used a sugar addition, and how much. Still, this is not a heavy beer. My wife, who drank a maibock, noticed the difference in texture.
I am not well-versed in Belgians to say with certainty that this is an excellent example of style, but it is a very nice, interesting beer. It cost a bit more than other South Shore offerings, and is worth the price, in my opinion.
