Oh, what names we see when the d-bock -ator convention is followed, eh? It's almost like a Heinz Doofenschmirtz joke that preceded the man himself. This one pours a clear dark garnet-brown topped by a finger of ashy tan foam. The nose comprises light honey, very light roasted malts, watered-down maple syrup, and a touch of walnut. The taste brings in more of the same, though things definitely come out breadier, with some pumpernickel, rye, and sourdough splashing about playfully. There's a touch of cardboard in there, too, though it's tempered by the bread. Honey seems somewhat abundant, at least fleetingly. The body is a light medium, with a light moderate carbonation and a slightly watery feel. Overall, a pretty sad d-bock, one I don't ever really seeing myself try again.

good froth you have there, fox. the color is a decent dark reddish brown with copper highlights. hazy though and not a rich color like i would want of a DB

aroma: honey sweetness, pumpernickel bread. caramel, certainly.

rich tasting brew, though not too dynamic. solid caramel. a little fruity, to be honest: in the range of raisin/date and other dark or dried fruits

a tasty beer but a little sweet and flat (not in terms of carbonation). cool the fermentation, add some body so the sweetness isn't just a flavor (does that make sense?)

App- Pours very deep reddish brown, with a nice 1 finger beige head. Some residual yeast in bottle leaves the brew a bit hazy in the glass.

Aroma- Rich caramel, toffee, juicy maltiness, slight nuttiness, and hints of floral hops make for a delightful nose. A hint of warm baked biscuits and a kiss of alcohol also detectable. Mouthwatering aroma- I cannot wait to dive into this (and did before finishing this sentence!)!

Flavor- Warm malty/bready flavors and noticeable alcohol up front parts way to a rich caramel/toffee middle and a sweet, complex, grainy finish. Slightly filling due to its rich flavor and bigger body, but incredibly satisfying.

Mouthfeel- Rich, medium-full bodied, lingering caramel/toffee finish but surprisingly clean. A good amount of residual sugars are nicely offset by the slight graininess and subtle hop bitterness. Moderate CO2. Surprisingly high drinkability, though slightly filling.

Overall- Awesome doppelbock that really nails the malt complexity, rich caramel and toffee, and shocking drinkability for a stronger rich beer. I really wished I would have picked up another couple of bottles!!

Poured from the bottle a cloudy bronze color with two fingers of light tan head.

The aroma is huge amount of sweet caramel malts, molasses, and walnuts.

The taste, like the aroma, is big with sweet caramel malts, molasses, chocolate, butterscotch, and roasted walnuts.

Medium bodied, rich and smooth, and lightly carbonated.

A very enjoyable little Doppelbock.

A: Poured into tulip, way too light for a dopplebock. Can see my hand on the other side of the glass. Like a deep mahogany. Nice tan head, good lace.

S: Awesome. Sweet dark fruit, molasses. Nice!

T: Obvioulsy follows nose, add bitter dark chocolate. Sweet roasted malt.

M: Light for a dopplebock. Almost like a Light Dopplebock! Some carbonation, sweet malt/dark chocolate coat the mouth.

D: Not sure of the Abv, but, there is some warmth. Not a Celebrator - class dop, but, very drinkable. Enjoyable actually. GREAT nose, good flavor, lighter mouth all add up top an easy quaff. I'll buy it again...

A--Beautiful carbony pour. Color of sun-brewed iced tea. Big boss head. Red-tinged beige. Lighter than some doppelbocks.

S--Fruiy molasses. Mild and sweet. Caramel malt.

T--Hop pops at first...on the citrusy-side. Shifts to a balancing caramel malt sweetness. Mild and sweet, but with appreciable complexity.

M--Sweetness barely avoids being syrupy. Hoppy nature brightens mouthfeel here, with some much-needed crisp dryness.

D--Not bad. I think they could work on making facets of taste, mouthfeel and drinkability more focused.

Clear reddish brown colored beer with a small tan colored head.

Sweet and malty scent, fig and walnuts, the nut aroma intensifies as it warms.

The taste starts out malty and grassy with a decent bitterness. The flavor is slightly nutty but not really like you would expect from a Doppelbock.

Mouthfeel is OK.

An OK beer but not spectacular.

Great, two-finger head that recedes to a thick ring and half film o' foam. Great bubbling inside a bright, rusty ruby colored brew. Swet and solid almost candy like malt aroma. Not too much, just enough to wet the dopplebock appetite.
Toasted malt candy. Sweet prunes, plums covered in a bit of caramel. I really underestimated this beer. Lots of sweet malt flavors on a soft syrup palate and just a splash of alcohol for warmth.
