Black body with mahogany highlights. Compact layer of tan foam on the surface, leaving some spindly lacing in the glass. Pretty good coverage, skim breaks after the first few sips.
Caramelized sugar and toasty malt in the aroma, brown sugar and figs.
Smooth velvety feel, taste is a little more subdued, though dense and malt forward. A light bitterness and alcohol presence (at 5.5%?), which lingers into the aftertaste. Medium bodied with low carbonation, again it has a smooth feel. Overall not bad, wondering why Sand Creek doesn't revamp their lineup into all traditional German styles, as that seems what they are best at.
