Tasted by a half-pint at the Evening Star, Brighton. Served by a handpump w/o a sparkler, and the pump clip says "Special Edition", so I guess it's a one-off brew/mix?
A: the colour is very dark brown, coming with a fluffy head with sparse air cells; low in carbonation.
S: rather fruity in aroma, like an old ale even, with some sour fruity hints, roastiness of dark chocolates, a faint trace of black-sugar and earthy hops lagging behind... Overall, the nose is pretty "quiet", unlike Dark Star's other Dark Mild "Over the Moon".
T: lightly sweet brown malts quickly turn dryish, roasty, as well as fruity, with scattered notes of dryish dark chocolates and its nutty sour edge; even more bitter and dry on the back of the palate, with chewy hops and tannins to catch up and then linger to join the nice, mild roast-maltiness in the end.
M&D: fairly light-bodied and faintly carbonated - maybe due to the condition of the cask, the texture even shows a bit thin. All in all, it tastes good, but not nearly as good as their much more hoppy Over the Moon...
