A decent Wheat from Minocqua, nothing overly special.

This one pours clear golden yellow with just a few wisps of white head. The aroma is moderately sweet and slightly grainy, no real hop in the nose. The flavor is sweet and pleasant with a nice slightly dry/crisp finish with just a bit of lingering malt on the tongue. The hop bitterness is only piece of hop evident and this provides enough bitterness to keep things from being overly sweet. Body is medium-light and carbonation moderate. Overall this is a beer intended to please the 'lite' masses, but has more flavor that those beers and is brewed rather well.

4 oz tap pour into a mini pint at the Minocqua Brewpub in Minocqua, WI.
A - Totally clear golden yellow with no head and no lace. Not even a ring on top.
S - Pale malts with a backing of soft wheat and pils malt finish on the end. Light, refreshing summer aroma but plain regardless.
T - A mirror of the aroma but slightly better, this wheat is more pale malt-based with a light backing of soft wheat.
M - Expectedly light-bodied and crisp with a clean feel and smooth finish.
D - Easily drinkable, this is Minocqua's summer refresher and a beer that could be consumed by the growler on a boat trolling around the lake.

part of the paddle sampler
a-damn near clear, light golden straw color. white foam leaves almost no lacing
s-pretty light wheat smell, a bit of yeast, but lacking
t-imagine a mediocre wheat ale, mixed half and half with Miller Lite. not average, pretty weak, a bit of spice, wheat, yeast, but mostly nothing
m-feels like a miller lite. weak.
d-the clear loser of the paddle. the only one we didn't finish. from the website:
"Our lightest brew for the novice beer drinker. This straw-colored ale has medium body with a hint of sweetness. Described as a very "drinkable" beer without sacrificing flavor."
"for the novice beer drinker" = red flag. they have to have something like this at a place like this, but i would have prefered to have never had it. not good. don't get this.

Served a hazed yellow in color with a thin white head. Light aroma of wheat malt. Body is somewhat on the thin side with moderate carbonation. Taste is pretty clean. Light wheat malt in flavor with just a touch of spice from the yeast. Nothing outstanding here. It's hard to find any fault with this wheat ale, other than there isn't anything to get really excited about either.
