From Notes:
Very black appearance can't see through it, no visible activity or head. Nice malt nose, quite inviting. Taste starts a bit weak but end ok. The mouth feel is a tad thin for a oatmeal stout. Overall an above average beer, worth trying if its around you.

On-tap at the Minocqua Brewing Company. I had a chance to speak about it a little with the brewmaster as I was drinking it. He told me that this is his first stout offering. I'd have to say he was on the mark.
As an oatmeal imperial stout, it seems to be a bit of hybrid. It is not as roasted as some of the imperial stouts that I've had, but the alcohol content seemed like it was approaching that range. I don't know what the alcohol was, but it could be tasted in the finish, and one pint was plenty strong for me. As for the oatmeal part, there is a smooth but full-bodied texture that seems attributable to the oats.
Despite lacking extreme roast in some impy stouts, it is a tasty brew and unmistakably stout-like in flavor. Maybe a little licorice-tone? The brewmaster told me he uses Nottingham yeast for everything except his lagers, so don't look for a lot of fruity flavors, as this yeast is neutral and finishes dry. Works great in this one.
Overall, a fine beer.
